                HeLa Day          Recently, I have been watching news online. Last week, I found an really interesting topic which let people to created their own holiday. Some of them want t create a Sleeping Day, while others want to create a Fasting Day. For me, I would like to create a HeLa Day.          I recently just finished reading the bool called " The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks".  While most of the cancer cells died soon after being exposed to laboratory conditions and small numbers of surviving cells not reproduce, HeLa cells which were taken by an African American woman called Henrietta Lacks, can reproduce infinitively. Judge not a book by its cover         During the Christmas break, I travelled to Chiangmai, Thailand with my mom. Before that, my own perspective of Thailand is a poor and backward country, however, this wonderful trip totally dispelled my prejudice.         One of my favorite part of this trip was the White temple.Thailand is a Buddhist country, so it's imperative that visitors need to dedicate to the Buddhist statue and take off their shoes before entering Buddhist sites. Even though the process was complicated, it really help people to eliminate distractions. Then they can visit the scared temple conscienciously. The White temple is the most astonishing temple among all of the three temples I had visited in Chiangmai, I was shocked when I first saw it on the bus, and our tour guide told us that the reason why the White temple looks fascinating is because it was decorated by glass, the sunlight which was reflected by the glass made the temple...

Thanksgiving day is coming. As an international student, even though our country don't celebrate thanksgiving day, I still have something to be thankful to. First, I am thankful for my parents, they send me abroad to receive higher education. Second, I am thankful for Dr. Barger for being such a mice English teacher and Davis dorm parents. I really want to be a person like Dr. B in the future. Because she is wise and work really hard on what she loves. Sometimes I hope Dr.B can be my dorm parent for all four years in webb. Third, I am thankful for Ms. Berzinskas for giving these nice ELL class. Although sometimes I will complain about the challenging grammar tests and I have the lowest grade on ELL among all of my grades. I know this is good for our international students to get accustomed to American education faster. My favorite book  My favorite book is “the Great Gatsby”. The story’s contention was set in the prosperous 1922’s Long Island in the United States, during that time, America was in their Jazz Age which the most significant thing for people in that time is the money and the position.  When I first saw the title, I did not know why the book is called “the Great Gatsby”, and I thought  that many this book is a outstanding person's memoir. However, after I finished reading this book, I understand the intention of the author of using this name--When the entire society are engaged in having fun, Gatsby did not follow the mainstream, he uses all his time to pursue his “American Dream” and even though the book said nothing about the greatness of Gatsby, but with the development of the story, I understand that.   Of the whole book, all of the plots are  telling stories between different  couples, Quite the opposite,  there's no true love between them...

Volleyball Team During my first year abroad. I consider about how to make more American friends and how to join their group all the time, as a result, I made a big decision--join the volleyball team. Although I have never played volleyball before, I am good at badminton and I believe their are many similarities between badminton and volleyball. So I told the coach that I have played a little bit before. After that, he let me join the volleyball practice to see if I could be a member of the volleyball team.  During the practice time, I was so nervous for I have never played before. However, I followed other players and did what they did. First, passed the ball to the coach. When he popped the ball back and set it for me, then I need to hit it to the other side of the net. Abortion after Three Months Should be Illegal Recently, I saw news which asked, "Should abortion be illegal?" This question made me contemplate for a long time because it's a controversial question. Some believe that abortion is murder, while others think it's too serious to consider abortion a crime of murder. In my opinion, I think that abortion after three months should be illegal for several reasons. First of all, the main cause of a large amount of people having an abortion is carelessness. They don't consider pregnancy as an important thing. So after the discovery of pregenancy, they recklessly choose the easier way--have an abortion. However, the embryo has already formed into a human-like creature. At that time, the baby has what a normal human has. So if young couples decide to have abortions, that's equal to killing a life.
